Description
The Listening Foundation Program (Level 1)
The Listening Foundation Program lays the groundwork for your Sound Therapy journey.
The unique activation and filtering of the music, based on the ground-breaking techniques developed by Dr Tomatis, delivers a powerful therapeutic program for the ears and brain.
This Level 1 Program is the required starting place for new listeners, in order to condition the nervous system in the first few weeks of listening. The level of filtering gradually increases as you work through the four albums, progressively training the ear.
-
- Four six-hour music programs.
- The Silver program begins with the Listening Foundation Program Level 1.
- You will then follow the Advanced Natural Hearing Improvement Series, comprising three advanced programs.
- In total you will progress through four six-hour programs and four workbooks (supplied as eBooks).
- Extra support tools with your subscription
Building Ear Brain Connections Program (Level 2)
This program is the next step in the Natural Hearing Improvement Series, after completing the Level One Listening Foundation Program. It delivers a stronger level of filtering to take your ear-brain rehabilitation to the next level.
In this program, updated recording techniques have been used which are more subtle but also more effective. The Building Ear Brain Connections program is a marvellous combination of subtle and varied techniques which gently stretches and enhances your ear function in different ways. Each album addresses a different aspect of ear function, working both on the ear and the auditory-brain pathways.
This program is gentle and soothing, so it is particularly helpful for those with tinnitus or hyperacusis. It is also an important step in enhancing auditory pathways for any type or hearing recovery.
Audio Activation (Level 3)
This Level 3 program I the Natural Hearing Improvement Series, delivers a stronger level of filtering to take your ear-brain rehabilitation to the next level.
-
- This program introduces new techniques not previously used in Sound Therapy recordings.
- Selections specifically target parts of the auditory system that require greater stimulation.
- Certain selections are reinforced with a dual filtering process. A gently filtered passage is overlaid with a very stimulating and highly filtered track.
- This results in the ear being opened and the relevant brain centres being stimulated simultaneously.
Take your ears stimulation to the next level to help restore their responsiveness. This program is helpful for enhancing high frequency perceptions and improving vestibular system function and balance and for stubborn hearing loss or tinnitus following industrial noise exposure.
When the ear has been damaged, sound impulses are not reaching the brain correctly. This sensory deprivation can lead to further degradation of our experience of hearing. The Audio Activation Program is designed to re-activate both the ear itself and the audio-neural connections.
Recent research has shown that high frequency sounds cause the stirrup muscle to move in a different way, introducing a new type of stimulation to the auditory pathways in the brain.
Listening Pleasure (Level 4)
This Level 4 program in the Natural Hearing Improvement Series delivers a stronger level of filtering plus new recording techniques. These include nature sounds and Full Spectrum dual layering, to enhance long-term auditory awareness and sensory integration.
-
- This program introduces new techniques not previously used in Sound Therapy recordings.
- The music is blended with nature sounds, giving you the calming emotional impact of being in nature amongst frogs, birds and running water, the natural environment our ears have evolved to enjoy.
- Selections are specifically designed to create integration between different brain pathways and sensory systems.
- Within each recording, the high frequencies are subtly augmented without disrupting the enjoyment of the full sound.
Those of you who used our old Full Spectrum will know the story of how Patricia Joudry developed this technique to give the pleasure of listening to the ‘full spectrum’ of music combined with the benefit of highly filtered Sound Therapy. This means you can enjoy the rich base sounds without missing out on the high frequency brain stimulation. In fact this combination has unexpected benefits for the whole nervous system, as all our receptive centres are stimulated at once, in effect combining the spiritual and physical responses.
We are now able to integrate the process of high and low within the same piece of music. This means you will not audibly hear the high tracks, but they are still there. In addition we have now combined it with nature sounds, giving you the calming emotional impact of being in nature amongst frogs, birds and running water, the natural environment our ears have evolved to enjoy.
The dual stimulation of high and low is also the ultimate massage and maintenance program for the ear, letting the ear muscles continually cycle through their full range of movement. Therefore it is a powerful program to support and maintain optimum ear function for the long term.
Why is this Program important?
Research on brain plasticity and Sound Therapy shows that:
-
- Awareness is enhanced by multi-sensory input
- Natural sounds are soothing and calming to the nervous system
- Random sound events enhance attention
- Hearing perception is improved by brain stimulation
- Pleasurable sounds are more beneficial.
The Music
Listening Foundation Program
Listening Foundation Program consists of four albums, each approximately 90 minutes in length.
Album 1 - Gentle Massage
This album gently begins the process of introducing filtered sounds to the ear. (Vivaldi: 4 Concerti | Rosini: Quartet | Mozart: Violin Concerto | Handel: Harp Concerto)
Album 2 - Muscle Movement
The ear is reconditioned as the filtering begins to increase, and the middle ear muscles are asked to respond to greater variations in frequency and intensity (Mozart: String quartets | Mozart: Piano Concertos)
Album 3: Ear Gymnastics
Progressing to more challenging frequency variations requires the ear to respond at levels that it may not have reached for many years. (Mozart Horn Concerto, Violin Concerto, Bach: Harp Concertos | Bach: Cello Concerto | Vivaldi: Cello Concertos)
Album 4: Cilia Simulation
Finally, as the middle ear has begun to open and adjust to the higher frequencies, these stimulating sounds can reach the inner ear and activate the sensory cells in the hearing organ (the cilia). Sound waves are converted to electro chemical signals that travel to the brain. (Mozart: Horn Concerti | Haydn: String Quartets)
Building Ear Brain Connections Program
This program consists of 4 albums, each approximately 80-90 minutes in length.
Album 1 - Calming the Ear: This album contains frequencies that are soothing and will gently massage the ear while encouraging more responsiveness in a particular frequency range. This album can be used repeatedly by anyone who may have difficulty adjusting to Sound Therapy or is having an adverse reaction such as tinnitus or hyperacusis (sound sensitivity.) It will help to habituate and prepare the ear for the more advanced albums. (Bodin de Boismortier: Sonatas for Bassoon & Continuo)
Album 2 - Opening the Ear: Gradually introduces wider tonal fluctuations, giving the ear muscles a gentle workout, while simultaneously enticing the perception, through the auditory cortex, to stretch and open to higher frequencies. When the middle ear opens and becomes receptive to the high frequencies, these frequencies can then stimulate the inner ear and begin to activate the auditory neural pathways. This album is one of the most important steps in the program to prepare you to benefit from the albums that follow. (Beethoven: Chamber Music for Flute | Mozart: Divertimento & Serenade)
Album 3 - Listening Clarity: This music draws the listeners attention with beautiful melodies while gently increasing the range of perception of tones and frequencies. This album will assist you to hear more clearly in difficult situations and background noise. (Mozart: concertos for Clarinet, flute and Harp | Mozart: Quartets for flute and strings | Dupuy: Quintet for Bassoon and strings)
Album 4 - Visualisation to Reduce Stress: This album is an important part of auditory healing. It applies the techniques of cognitive retraining to alter the role your conscious and unconscious mind play in stress or tinnitus. A 15 minute visualisation is followed by exquisite and calming Sound Therapy music. (Visualisation read by Rafaele | Joudry Gluck: Orphee et Eurydice | Boccherini: Guitar Quintet | Haydn: Guitar Quartet | Vivaldi: Concerto Excerpts | Bach: Concerto, Largo)
Audio Activation Program
This program consists of 4 albums, each approximately 80-90 minutes in length.
Album 1 - Awaken the Ear: This album contains frequencies that are soothing and will gently massage the ear while encouraging more responsiveness in a particular frequency range. When the ear has been damaged by noise or other factors, there is limited response in its structures and nerve system to some sounds. This album is geared to gaining auditory attention so that parts of the auditory system that have been in effect “sleeping” may be prompted to respond and take notice. (Haydn: Trios | Beethoven: Trios | Boccherini: Guitar | Boccherini: Concerto | Bach: Suite | Mozart: Piano Sonata)
Album 2 - Ear Brain Tango: Hearing is essentially a dance of give and take between the ear and brain. This is played out in this very active music which will get the cilia ‘dancing’ and sending rapid signals back and forth to various neural centres. Resonant harmonies are used to inspire greater activity in the auditory cortex. (Haydn: Symphony | Mozart: Quartet | Mozart: Piano | Mozart: concertos)
Album 3 - Earobics: The auditory system becomes weakened through years of abuse or misuse. The absence of high frequency sounds is like malnutrition, for this is the food of the nervous system. Earobics is a concentrated ear work-out, training the ear muscles with ever more challenging frequencies. (Haydn: Divertimentos | Telemann: Flute and Harpsichord Sonatas | Mozart: Quintet, Adagio and Fugue)
Album 4 - Audio-neural Activator with Full Spectrum: A new advance in Sound Therapy was introduced by Patricia Joudry where certain selections are reinforced with a dual filtering process. On this album a gently filtered passage is overlaid with a very stimulating and highly filtered track to engage the activation of numerous neuronal pathways. (Mendelssohn: Concerto for Piano and Strings | Mozart: Flute Quartets)
Listening Pleasure Program
This program consists of 4 albums, each approximately 80-90 minutes in length.
Album 1 - Full Spectrum Awareness: In this album the music is presented in integrated Full Spectrum, so a very highly filtered version of the same music is gradually added into the full spectrum sound. This gives added stimulation very subtly, so the full tonal depth of the music can be appreciated while still benefitting from high frequency filtration. Due to your experience with earlier programs, your ear will now respond to this subtle addition. Gradually introduced nature sounds add to the sense of blissful relaxation. (Haydn: Cello Concerto | Monn: Cello Concerto | Mozart: Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments)
Album 2 - Full Spectrum in Nature: This album uses similar techniques again to the first album but with a greater intensity introduced through the Full spectrum filtering and the integration of the natural sounds. (Mozart: Concertante | Mozart: Quintets)
Album 3 - Opening to Full Spectrum: In this album the addition of high band sounds is consistent throughout, giving a continuously stimulating activation of the ear and the brain’s auditory centres. In addition the whole music is processed with the Electronic Ear, adding muscular stimulation to the mix. (Mozart: Flute Concerto | Bach: Suite | Gluck: Theme from Orphée and Eurydice | Crussell: Divertimento | Barth: Divertimento | Rameau: Wind Quintet)
Album 4 - Nature’s Energy: This album introduces a triple mix, where the high band of sound is both incorporated within the whole music and also added in a completely different music track, which you may notice intermittently. This not only stretches the auditory apparatus, but invites the attention to expand on a new level, further enhancing the subtleties of good listening. All this is accompanied by a symphony of nature sounds, to add a sense of belonging and harmony to the whole experience. (Gluck: Flute Concerto | Boccherini: Flute Concerto | Mozart: String Quartet | Haydn: String Quartet | Dittersdorf: String Quartet | Vanhal: String Quartet)
