Why do we not recommend Bluetooth for Sound Therapy?

September 26, 2018 | General

While Bluetooth is a wonderful invention for convenient sound delivery, it is not the best method for achieving top of the range audio signals required for Sound Therapy.

Some Bluetooth devices are ideal to use with Hearing Aids to help day to day hearing. However, in Sound Therapy we are targeting a very different outcome to the objective of the hearing aid.

The hearing aid sends an altered sound signal to assist you to hear the best you can within the limits of your existing hearing.

Sound Therapy attempts to increase the range of hearing of your natural ear by focussing on the full range of frequencies the human ear can perceive, with particular emphasis on high frequencies above 8,000Hz. These very important high harmonics would not even be conveyed by the hearing aid or by the Bluetooth technology.

If you place a headphone directly on your ears you will be receiving the full frequency response emitted by our equipment, directly into your ear. This direct signal will bypass your hearing aid, and will therefore deliver the extended high frequencies that are unique to the Sound Therapy program.

If, however, you were to play your Sound Therapy using Bluetooth so that it is only picked up by your hearing aid, this would limit the frequencies you receive to those that the hearing aid is delivering to your ear. This will counteract the filtering that has been used for Sound Therapy to create a therapeutic extension of the ear’s responsiveness.

Advantages of wired headphones

  • Light Weight and Portable. The wired headphones selected for Sound Therapy are light weight, portable and primarily “open” meaning the =y do not block out the surrounding sounds you need to hear, such as people talking or the television. We offer styles that can be used either with or without a hearing aid. The wires can be tucked into the clothing to avoid inconvenience from getting caught on passing objects.
  • Audiophiles: For Sound Therapy we demand the best sound quality — without exception — so wired headphones are the best choice. Audiophiles such as DJs and musicians set the bar high for sound quality and also opt for wired headphones. And for Sound Therapy listeners, with wired headphones, you won’t have to sacrifice sound quality at any time.
  • Individuals Who Are Hard of Hearing: Wired headphones deliver unsurpassed sound quality. As a result, they represent a viable option for those who are hard of hearing.
  • Sound Therapy listeners. We consider it a requirement for optimum Sound Therapy delivery that wired headphones are used so that there is no loss of the high harmonics which are the primary focus of Sound Therapy listening.

Bluetooth Headphone Options

Many wireless headphones can replicate the apparent audio quality of wired headphones. However, the majority of wireless headphones utilize 2.4GHz Bluetooth that can make it tough for these headphones to match the HD quality of their wired counterparts.

Wired headphones offer many benefits, including:

  • Terrific Sound Quality: Wired headphones commonly deliver top-notch sound quality in comparison to their wireless counterparts.
  • No Batteries Required: Unlike wireless headphones, wired headphones do not require batteries.
  • Simple to Use: Just plug in your wireless headphones to the audio jack, and you’ll be able to use them immediately.

Wired headphones are offered in a variety of styles and sizes. These headphones represent a great option for individuals who are searching for basic headphones at affordable prices. They also provide a wonderful choice for those who want unmatched sound quality.
